How Geocaching Works
Given in 1945 to the county, this 40-acre tract is completely undeveloped. A magnificent, high sand dune runs through the property and is where the cache resides. Start your journey by finding the unmarked trail that begins behind the public restrooms at the wayside. Please note you have both the Meridian and the above listed cache in this area. It is recommended that you mark your waypoint from this beginning point. Compass and mosquito spray is recommended for this enjoyable hike.
This cache is .48 miles from the Meridian Park cache and .61 miles from the Meridian Park marker. Look for a 3-way fork and choose your trail wisely. Be sure to mark your waypoint any time you leave the main trail because it is easy to get turned around in these beautiful woods. If you take the high approach when you leave the trail you may be following a deer trail that follows the ridge of the sand dunes. Keep the water on your left when you approach the cache. Use your orienteering skills and look back to check the trail from behind. Enjoy the view of the marsh and heavy woods. The cache is designed for you to create and reflect the experience and is in a standard ammo box. Comments on improving this cache is always welcomed.
