Geocache Description:

The hike to the cache starts in Franconia Notch.

The search for this cache will bring you by some of the finest cascades and waterfalls in New Hampshire. You will pass Stairs Falls, Swiftwater Falls which descend 60 feet and Cloudland Falls which descend 80 feet. You will then ascend by a series of switchbacks to a spur trail to Shining Rock. This steep granite ledge is more than 200 feet high and nearly 800 feet long and is usually covered with water from springs in the woods above and seen from mountains across the notch shines like a mirror in the sunlight. Here you will find the cache. Under no circumstances attempt to climb on Shining Rock. It is dangerous.

The cache is an ammo box stocked with the usual goodies including a teletubby, a braclet watch and a wheresgeorge dollar bill.

The trail is steep and rough in spots with several stream crossings that may be difficult in high water. Not recommended for young children. Park at the Trails Parking Lot across from Lafayette Campground in Franconia Notch. Start out on the Bridle Path, but in .2 miles cross Walker Brook on a bridge and continue up this trail.
