This cache is to bring to the attention of the world at large a little known connection between one of the most influential people in history and the Darcy’s country residence. This is arguably the person who has done more to redefine the way we think about ourselves than any other person in history. Certainly no one has had a greater effect since Copernicus knocked us off our perch at the centre of the universe. He is celebrated by some, reviled by others, but known by all.
This cache is public transport friendly; with a train stop only a few hundred metres from WP1.
If you retrace your illustrious predecessor’s footsteps – and I hope you do – you will walk about 3km on a pleasant stroll to a superb vista. About 6km in all. If you drive from WP1 to WP2, you will reduce the walking to about 2km, but you will find the going significantly harder.
Be aware that there are cliffs near WP2, so keep an eye on the GeoKiddies.
Also WP2 is in a National Park, so the Geopets should stay at home, or at least in the car. In fairness, I should mention that muggles frequently ignore the no pet rule. But we are better than muggles aren't we!
On to the puzzle:
First, there is no need to leave well worn paths at any time to complete this cache, though to get to GZ, you do need to cross the creek at an unofficial, but popular crossing.
Decode the hint if you need help for this. Also last two or three metres are along an old trail that is getting very overgrown (Not enough cachers!)
At WP1:
Find the Anniversary year. Subtract 1010. Add the result to the original South coordinates.
How many years before our hero’s most famous work did he visit here? Multiply by three. Subtract the month of his visit. Add the result to the original East coordinates.
At WP2, you can determine WP3 (the cache) = S33 4A.BCD E150 2E.FGH
