Ridebanen (ECC #19)

Husk: Cache in, trash out - så medbring en affaldspose.

The Riding Ground (ECC #19)

The Riding Ground is an old castle mound probably 1000-1500 years old. The purpose of the site is unknown, but it has probably been a refuge castle or sentry post. Today you can only see a circular mound. The name "Riding Ground" is probably due to the Swedes using the site for their horses during the war in 1657-59. The cache itself is placed next to The Riding Ground. The cache is placed at the foot of a tree.

I will recommend that you park at the parking area along the road between Skive and Fur (5.5 km from Skive). Here you will find a information board telling about the area, and from here a yellow-marked trail begins. The yellow route will take you to The Rinding Ground, take you by a couple of old burial mounds, show you a fantastic view of Skive Inlet. From the parking area to the cache is only 400 m. Coordinates:

Parking area: N 56° 36.913 E 009° 02.314

This is the fifth version of the cache. The first version most probably disappeared during the storm of January 2005 where the tide was very high. The second version was not water proof. Third version lost the lid. Forth version is hopefully storm og tide safe. This fifth version is moved away from the coast, to The Riding Ground. The cache is a ammo box with a lid. Make sure to close the box securely again.

Remember: Cache in, trash out - so bring a garbage bag.
