This cache has been archived.

Nomex: Hi Blanston12
As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact us when you have the cache repaired, [RED]and assuming it still meets the guidelines[/RED], we'll be happy to unarchive it.

You may email me at via the link to my profile on the log. [red]Please be sure to include the cache name and GCxxxx number, or better yet, the URL of the cache page.[/red]

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

A short walking tour through the Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge will lead you to a cache just outside.

The coordinates on the cache are to the Parking lot of the Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center. This cache will lead you on a short walking tour of the park where you will gather the needed information to find the cache container. The cache container is located just outside the boundary of the park as the refuge management does not allow caches inside. The walk is about 1.5 miles and has a 150 foot elevation gain. The park itself is open seven days a week from 7AM until 8PM

Location of the final cache is:

N37 31.ABC W122 03.DEF

Point 1: N37 31.876 W122 04.551

"Hunting: A way of life in the South Bay"

A = The digit of the last decade that Joe Pine occupied the cabin + 1.

Point 2: N37 31.772 W122 04.465

"Going, Going..."

At the turn of the century, it was possible to find "X" pairs of least terns nesting on a short stretch of beach, today there are fewer than "Y" pairs in all of California.

B = X - Y

Point 3: N37 31.668 W122 04.100

"Transportation: Past and Present"

C = The number of Sail boats on this sign multiplied by 2.

Point 4: N37 31.734 W122 04.148

D = The year the that only one pelican was known to have hatched in California - 1963.

Point 5: N37 31.828 W122 04.293

Catch your breath and enjoy the view.

Try to find Benchmark AE4373, its very close by.

E = The number of educational signs on the platform.

Point 6: N37 31.889 W122 04.424

Go inside the visitors center (don't worry, its free), find the cast-iron sign with a date on it that was originally mounted on the swing truss bridge that crossed Warm Springs Slough.

F = The year on the sign - 1896.

Check your work.

If you want to check your data before proceeding to the final cache, A + B + C + D + E + F + 2 is a multiple of 10. If for some reason you came at a time when the visitors center is closed you can use this same formula to calculate the value of F.

The cache is a green painted Gatorade container, and you do not have to trespass or get wet to find it.

Original Cache contents includes

  • A hot wheels car
  • A yellow rubber alien
  • An button with the clapping guy from the SF Chronicle
  • Steve Martin Buttons #54 and #55
  • Doc J and 8 Ball TB

Congratulations to Kusanagi on collecting the FTF.
