Mondovì is a nice and small town located inside an area that has
not only a great historical and artistic importance, but it is also
known for great food and wine.
The "Torre dei Bressano", also known as "Torre Civica" or "Torre
del Belvedere", is the highest point of the Mondovì area. The tower
is open for visiting only from the beginning of April to the end of
October, all Sundays afternoon, but from the half of June to half
of September it should be opened all week but Monday. Check with
the Mondovì tourist information center to verify the schedule.
From the top of the tower (about 600 meters on sea level) you can
have a breathless 360 degrees view of the entire area. The tower is
also remembered because it hase a huge clock, with just the hour
pointer.
By the way, if you get to the top of the tower, (and no one has
alredy cached it in the meantime), you can claim your "'H' Is For
Highpoint' (GC50E0)" locationless cache...
If you like sundials (and you want to claim your the "Sundials
(GC65F4)" locationless cache) you will love not just the tower,
that has an old sundial on a side, but the entire town of Mondovì,
where we saw 5 other sundials, some of them absolutely great.
The tower is located inside the "Giardini del Belvedere", that
is closed during the evening and the night. We suggest you, anyway,
to get there during the day, because, even if you don't get on the
tower, you will have a great view of the surroundings.
The cache is a very small tupperware, containing a small logbook
and a pencil (be careful not to break it), a big and two small
incense cones, a Madame Tussaud's keyring and a coin.
Just a note: the park sometimes can be crowded, so, please, be
very careful not to be seen and replace the stone that covers the
cache in a way that it can't go away by itself. We added an
additional half of a point to the difficoulty level, because of
this.
