This cache is a traditional cache (A 7.62 Ammo Can) established in 2004 with room for trade goodies. It is located in a city park that closes at dusk.  There is plenty of parking.  The coordinates were set with an 8 foot accuracy.

The original items placed inside this cache in 2004 were the log book with pen and pencil, Geocaching Sticker, a  Hotwheel car, 2 Pencil Erasers, Padlock, Poncho, Magnetic Clip, 16' Tape Measure, Colored Chalk and a Bouncing Bean, two Where's George Dollars, and a yellow trash bag.

While you are here, view the statue of Alex Haley.  This 4,200 pound, 12 foot high bronze statue is the largest sculpture of any African-American in the United States.

The monument was designed for interaction with children.  Kids are often seen climbing all over it as Alex Haley reads a book and gazes towards the Great Smoky Mountains.  Alex Haley loved the mountains, children, and storytelling.  The park also has a playground designed by kids for kids.
