Geocache Description:

A regular cache on Île Sainte-Hélène.

If you're driving, do not stop along the road to park. Instead, go park somewhere around N45 31.110 W073 32.220.

The cache should be relatively easy to find if you know *how* to look for it.
The cache was placed by Benster and Frank (from the IronCouple).

Some history about the location:
In 1611, Samuel de Champlain named the island Île Sainte-Hélène in honour of his young wife, Hélène Boullé.
When the French surrendered to the British in 1760, it was on Île Sainte-Hélène that Lévis ordered all his battalions to burn the regimental flags. There too, in 1775, British Governor Guy Carleton confronted the American invaders. The site began to take on strategic importance for protecting the country as of about 1820, and important military installations were built. Many of these are still in existence, and have been restored.

Since 1874, The island has been used as a public park.
More recently, Île Sainte-Hélène and the adjacent Île Notre-Dame have been thoroughly remodeled and have helped define Montréal's image on the international scene. Expo 67 (World's Fair) became a focus for world attention, its great success reflecting the caliber of what it offered the world.
