Geocache Description:

Getting the clues should be fairly easy, but due to the high concentrationg of muggles about, the cache itself is well hidden to avoid accidental detection.

Flemming Park is one of my favourite parks in Halifax, so I wanted to create a cache that would get people out exploring it. This could take you a while! Especially due to all the muggles about.

Value A: At the front of the Dingle Tower (N44°37.816’ W63°35.833’) how many lions guard the entrance?

Value B: At the same location (N44°37.816’ W63°35.833’), how many hinges are there on the Dingle Tower front door?

Value C: At the same location (N44°37.816’ W63°35.833’), according to the heritage property sign on the building, when was the tower completed? Add the first two digits together, and subtract the sum of the last two digits. e.g. If it was 1834, the answer would be (1+8)-(3+4)=2.

Value D: At the mural at N44°37.768’ W63°35.852’ how many boats are there under sail?

Value E: What is the civic number of the building at N44°37.720’ W63°35.826’? Subtract the first digit from the second and add 1. e.g. If the number was 38, the answer would be 6.

Value F: What is the number carved on the tree stump at N44°37.720’ W63°35.997’? Since it has become harder to read over time, I'll tell you it's a number between 2 and 4.

Value G: How many small bridges are located at N44°37.700’ W63°36.088’?

Value H: What is the total number of long boards in all of the seats at N44°37.684’ W63°36.190’? Divide this number by 2.

Value I: Following the path SW, how many bridges are there between the seats at N44°37.684’ W63°36.190’ and the parking lot at N44°37.504’ W63°36.267’? Multiply this number by 100.

Value J: How many cars are there in the parking lot at N44°37.504’ W63°36.267’? Take this number, mutliply it by the mathematical constant PI, and throw it away; it’s completely irrelevant.

Value K: Follow the path along the side of the road to N44°37.448’ W63°36.172’. A sign details when the park closes and by-law P-???. What is the number of the bylaw? Divide it by 6. Re-enter the park at this point and follow the path NE.

Value L: Find the seat at N44°37.534’ W63°36.158’. There is a small dedication on it, and the dates 1942-201?. The last number of the second date is L.

To get the co-ordinates for the cache, do the following:

Value M = (B - C + D + E - F + L)/1000
Value N = (A - G + I - K - H)/1000

Take the waypoint of the seats from step H, add M to the northing minutes, and subtract N from the westing minutes. This is a regular sized cache.

The cache has a number of potential cache hiding spots in the area. You might want to check the hint and spoiler pictures.

At the time of hiding the original containers (there were 3 final containers in 3 locations to find) held a number of things, including small clamps, geocaching stickers, NiCd rechargable batteries, a car air vent GPS holder, coloured pencils, pens, playdoh, dice, music tapes, carabiners, a step counter, and more.
