Barrie and Area's first Geocaching Extravaganza!

1ST ANNUAL - COG SPRING FLING!

Head North, Head South, East or West, just head to Springwater Provincial Park for this event!

This event WILL need to be archived soon and we need to make sure those bugs are accounted for!

When: Saturday April 30th, 2005 - 9:00AM until 5:00PM


Where: Springwater Provincial Park, Midhurst Ontario
Who: Geocachers, their familes (kids too!), dogs
What: Picnic style get-together, Geocaching activities and much more!
Cost: Park admission plus voluntary donations* to cover expenses.


About Springwater Provincial Park:


We are very fortunate to have been able to reserve Springwater Provincial Park. Springwater is a very family friendly venue with all amenities you could ever want including Complete (and heated) washroom facilities, plenty of recreation and park equipment for the kids, fire pits, hiking trails, many different varieties of wildlife, and even a small pond which is home to swans, ducks, and other watergoing animals! Apart from the natural wildlife, Springwater is also host to a fantastic wildlife exhibit including live Bears, Wolves, Owls, Swans and Deer! What will we be doing?

Park Gates Open:

9:00am
Registration/meet: Begins at 9:00am
Opening Address: 9:45 am
Day’s Activities:* 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Lunch: 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
Tracking Seminar: 1:30 pm - ???
Prizes/In Closing: 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
* Geo Poker, Geo Etch-A-Sketch, Closest to the Pin

Lunch:

Team Woods will be BBQ’ing at the Pavilion starting at 12:00pm (possibly a touch earlier). Food will be provided as follows:

Hamburger: $2.00
Hotdog: $1.50
Pop/Bottled Water: $1.00

Items of Note:

  • Entrance fee for Springwater Provincial Park is $11 per car per day. This allows you access to the park to enter and exit as you please for 24 hours. For $70, a seasonal pass can be purchased HERE which allows access to ALL provincial parks in Ontario for the summer season.
  • We as Geocachers know, Ontario Parks are very particular about the rules and regulations surrounding use of the park grounds. Please read and be aware of all information at the following FORUM TOPIC If there are any questions whatsoever about the use of Ontario Parks, and their regulations, feel free to ask me and I will find out for you, or contact Cache-Tech for further information.

Possible Accomodations:

Camping—Barrie KOA
is having an opening season special on that weekend. They have generously offered their pavilion for our use.

Home away from home—Georgian Summer Suites
1,2, and 3 bedroom suites with kitchenette. The suites open May 5th but they tell us that if there is sufficient interest they can be available for our weekend. Please email Renate aka Nawty if you are interested so she can forward numbers to them. They are not pet friendly.

Hotel room—Travelodge on Bayfield
Very convenient to both events. They are pet friendly. The best rates we found were by booking via the internet.

Full service hotel—Holiday Inn on Fairview
when you want convenience and room service. They are pet friendly.
