This little fellow has built his nest (cache) along the shores of Lake Brandt on the Owl's Roost Trail. Actually, he's joined the neighborhood of the Great Horned Owl that also lives in this neck-of-the-woods. To visit the Squirrel's Nest, it is best to start your adventure at the Owl's Roost Trail Head on the Lake Brandt Greenway at N36 09.370 W079 51.424 and follow the trail to stage 1. At stage 1, you will find the co-ordinates to the squirrel's stash that's somewhere in Lake Brandt's "outback". The Owl's Roost Trail is a well maintained bicycle trail that runs 5.2 miles from Bur-Mill Park back to the Lake Brandt Greenway. The distance from the trailhead, on the Lake Brandt Greenway, to the Squirrel's Nest is approximately 2.2 miles. Although, this is a long hike, you can find 3 caches on the adventure along this trail. (The Great Horned Owl, Squirrel's Nest, and the Outback). Great views of Lake Brandt can be found along the trail and your dog will enjoy this hike. Just watch for the bikers and move off the trail when being approached. The Terrain Rating of 4 is due to the length of the hike.
