A hike along a well used path brings you to this cache with a
scenic view of the Des Moines river on the south and the Hindu
Temple to the North. Take the path through the woods for the scenic
route or cut through the field & then join up with the path.
The St. Louis, Des Moines & Northern Railroad company was
incorporated in May, 1881 and the line from Des Moines to Boone was
completed in 1882. It was a narrow-gauge track for a decade and a
half, bridging the river almost straight south of Madrid and about
one-quarter mile west of the present Highway 17 bridge. It was the
first high bridge to be built in this area, a wooden structure
one-half mile long and over 100 feet above the river. All of the
pilings and 10 x 12 timbers used to build the bridge were hauled by
horse-drawn wagons from the new town of Woodward. This area later
developed a coal camp known as "High Bridge", and the area was also
a famous resort for picnic parties and clam bakes. If the water
level is low, you can still see remnants of the bridge
pillars.
This is now a 3 cup gladware container with a notebook and many
small items.
Location had to be changed due to muggle activity.
Not on the beaten path, but close. Parking area needs CITO!

October 11, 2009 by olkb (3005 found) Decided it was a nice day for a walk and it was. Found quickly on the ground and placed back where I thought it came from. Saw a cat with it's catch on the way back to the truck and when I got there discovered I was covered with weed seeds. Spent some time taking them off and then got covered again at the next cache.. May 8, 2009 by Hammer99 (369 found) This one was a story. Got off work early and decided to grab a few on my way to check some things out in Johnston on another job.. anywho. Walked through the field and trees to the GZ and found that some work has been done in the area... why I have no idea.. started looking around for the cache and found a little medicare puzzle in a ziplock, and a keychain game. Found the cache had been turned to trash. Stumbled through the logs and brush and found the lid to the cache and some more swag, log book and then the container. The GZ didn't provide a good location for the cache anymore so I moved it to the nearest good spot that may be safe. N41 48.525 w093 49.187. log is soaked.. didn't find any travelers. Hammer

March 27, 2009 by KnightCacher316 (17 found) Went out with my friends (A.K.A. ChrisDinIa). We parked over by the hindu temple I commented that stealth isn't wearing a orange jacket, and driving in a big bright blue car. We walked around a while. We had to climb up a hill, I got caught in a bush while they reached the top. Finally when I broke free I heard "I got it!" Dang! I got to the top and signed log.
