Somerset Offset Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

DrMomentum: This cache was never meant to be covered by the stones of the wall. It was originally accessible without disturbing the wall at all. Clearly, someone has altered the cache positioning. The cache had a good run and would need to be reworked to be moved because of the nature of the cache (an offset with coordinates based on numbers off a memorial).

I apologize to any folks it has inconvenienced. I suggest deactivation of the cache and I will remove the cache itself at my earliest convenience.

Geocache Description:

This is an offset cache requiring you to visit a couple of locations in Somerset, MA.

The coordinates will take you to the site of a war Memorial at the bottom of Centre Street in the Pottersville section of Somerset.

The actual cache location is at the following coordinates:

N 41 46. a b 7
W 71 07. c d 5

You'll need to check out the memorial to fill in the digits for "a b" and "c d." Here are your clues:

Look at the large plaque on the main monument.

Locate the name "Charles H. Bridge" in the first column of names. How far down is he on the list? Substitute this 2-digit number for "ab".

The digit "c" is equal to the number of people on the monument with the surname "Lynch."

Someone else on this monument has the name "Rosimond J. Richards" The digit "d" will be the column in which you find Rosimond.

When you get to the final location you will find that the number of geomuggles can be very variable. The cache is moderately hidden but should not take long to find. A partner could be helpful in providing either cover or a diversion. There is seating nearby.

Also nearby is a little area with playground equipment. Bring a couple of kids to try out the tire swings! The area of the final has a nighttime curfew, so come in the daytime.

The cache itself is very small, but not quite a micro. It's a 2 cup plastic tupperware-type container. There is a logbook in there and room for a few very small trades.

The cache can be seen with your eyes without using your hands, but it is not necessarily easy to see. You have to be looking carefully. I will provide multiple clues.
