Geocache Description:

Well the hockey season is officially over and what is one to do? Geocaching of course!!

This is my first hide and it is a 1.5L cammo Lock(out)&Lock(out) in a nice walking park in the Newton area of Surrey. The coordinates listed above are one of the suggested parking locations. From either of the parking spots suggested below, it is an easy, short jaunt to the cache site.

Parking spot #1 (near sign show above)
Parking spot #2 (on 140th St)
N49 07.359 W122 50.178
N49 07.306 W122 50.067

To get the actual cache coordinates, you will have to brush up on your hockey knowledge (can't get rusty now can we!). You'll have to correctly identify the jersey number for the hockey players listed below and fit those numbers into N49 0A.BCD W122 E0.BFG.

    • Brendan Morrison = A
    • Mattias Ohlund = B
    • Bobby Orr = C
    • Gordie Howe = D
    • Nik Lidstrom = E
    • Brent Sopel = F
    • Eric Lindros = G (but only use the first of the two digits for his number!)

The original contents of this hockey themed cache are: a replica NHL awards trophy, official NHL playing cards in a keepsake tin, a hockey puck, a roll of hockey tape, hockey themed drink coasters, 1980's era hockey cards in plastic sleeves (w/ a common theme amongst them...can you figure it out?), and for the FTF (if they so desire) a Franklin the Turtle DVD titled, "Franklin Plays Hockey" for the younger cacher/hockey fans in the world. It would be great if cachers could keep the theme in mind when they make a trade, if possible.

The actual cache site is heavily treed so if the coordinates (and hence jersey numbers) need adjusting please let me know or post in your log. There also seems to be some evidence of the general cache area being an occasional youth hang-out so CITO would always be a good idea and carefully re-hiding the cache would be appreciated!
