This cache is a medium Lock N Lock (1 Liter), it can hold trade
items and Travel Bugs.
This cache is located near Morse, the town motto is "for the
birds", all services are available.
The Reed Lake Bird Lookout is located on the edge of the Western
Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve. The shallow Saskatchewan lakes are
very important locations for all shorebirds in North America. You
can tune your FM radio to an informative broadcast about the area
as you drive through Chaplin, another excellent place for shorebird
watching. There is an interpretive center in Chaplin and in the
summertime it offers a nice free stop for the family and some
excellent information about the importance of these lakes to all
shorebirds but it is closed in the winter. The lookout on Reed Lake
allows unrestricted year round access to travellers. You can walk
your dog here or just make a quick stop. This is one of the best
spots in Western Canada for watching shorebirds and in the summer
there will likely be visitors with binoculars. If you want a chance
to add the Piping Plover to your list of birds seen, this is one of
the places to do it. This cache is the only cache located in this
area, the nearest caches are almost an hour east or west, GCJXZQ or
GC2641.
The Sand Castles Cache GC1566 only seems to be
conveniently located to this cache, it isn't.
This cache was placed was to help TB's move along the Trans
Canada by dropping the geogap between Moose Jaw and Swift Current.
If you drop TB's off in this cache remember, as a courtesy to
owners, refer to Travel Bugs by name or TB tracking code and do not
list tag numbers. A log entry mentioning the direction of travel
will also help move TB's quickly.
When you locate the cache, please do not disturb the hiding
spot, the next geocacher is relying on that happening so they
can complete their search successfully. I have marked this cache as
winter accessible but substantial snow cover may affect the cache,
this area is not noted for heavy snow cover. I have marked the
cache as stealth required, the binocular tower and the highway are
in "plain" site. Please let others know how you feel about this
cache by making an entry in the online log here on
geocaching.com.
