This cache has been archived.

usakiwi: One of our best, with a unique history and great view; however, three months without a hit tells us it is time to archive and open up the area for another cacher.

Geocache Description:

The cache is located near a picturesque, historic and little known reservoir that was completed in 1890 and supplied water for the local area until 1970.

There are different ways to reach the cache site, however, I would suggest you start from an urban park with an adjacent childrens playground, (S 41° 20.913, E 173° 12.140).

Let the kids have a play, do the normal "park" thing and then go find the cache.

Walk through the park and then follow your GPS and track hints. Reception will be very good. You will, depending on the route taken, need to walk a short distance over private land; however, permission has been granded because the whole area is part of an inter-connecting walkway system. There can be a bit of mud in the winter.

NOTE: THE CACHE HAS BEEN MOVED FROM ITS ORIGINAL SITE. There are new co-ordinates and clue.

The cache is a 400ml camo-painted snap lock container. It initially contained a log book, pencil, our "signature" item and some tradable items.
