Geocache Description:


When I came here as a little kid in the 70’s, I thought this place stretched for miles and miles. The Tea House was 100 ft high, the Dragon Slide was a dizzying plunge. There are pictures of me in the doorway of Pinocchio’s Castle, and on the Wonder-Go-Round, wearing orange bell-bottoms. When I was in high school, some friends of mine worked here, running the Toyland Boat ride and giving directions from the Pumpkin. One of them was even held-up at gunpoint selling entrance tickets at the Shoe. Now, when I visit with B and K, Fairyland seems Thumbelina-sized. I have to duck to follow them through Alice’s Wonderland Tunnel. But the plastic keys haven’t changed, and the crow’s nest on Peter Pan’s Pirate Ship still looks pretty high, when you’re watching your 2 year-old climb up the ropes for the first time.

The cache is outside the Fairyland entrance, in Lakeside Park. It is a small round container with a blue lid. My GPS reception was somewhat inconsistent here, so the coordinates are averages. If you get alternate coordinates, please post them. There’s a log and a few kid-friendly trinkets and stickers. Bring your own pen. Please make sure you leave the cache well-hidden, as the area is obviously well-explored by children. Also, remember my high school friend, and come during the daytime.
