Many fine specimens of Kauri, Rimu and Totara are to be found. Make sure you visit the giant Kauri (small track to left 20m inside entrance). There is an abundance of birdlife. Keep to the tracks and please respect the native bush. There is a grassed picnic area and toilets available at start of track. Parking in marked area before entrance gate.
The growth of Auckland in the early 1900’s necessitated the construction of a dam to ensure an adequate supply of water. A tramway was constructed through difficult terrain to transport the required building materials. A small part of the tramway still exists and is used mainly for tourist purposes.
This is a two-part cache. The first contains the co-ordinates of the final cache.
