Trollveggen and the Trolltindene (TrollPeaks)has been a challenge
to both climbers and BASE jumpers. Papers and TV-channels has for
many years refered to the activity as a deathgame and madness.
The first crew that climbed the wall, succeeded in 1965. They
spent 11 days in the wall.
Some finnish parachutists were the first one to jump BASE at
Trollveggen. This happened in 1980, and it became a very populare
place for BASE jumpers all over the world. After a lot of
accidents, many of them fatale, the Norwegian Parlament in 1986
made a law that prohibited jumping from Trollveggen
It is also possible to experience the Trollveggen from above:
Mountain walk from the top of the Trollstigen road out to
“Frokostplassen” behind the Troll peaks. The landscape
is mighty and impressive, with water, glaciers and mountain peaks!
From the end of the route there is a fantastic view towards the
upper regions of Romsdalen, and almost down to Åndalsnes. You can
also see famous mountains: Romsdalshorn and the whole sweep of the
Vengetind peaks. Moderate difficult, about half of the walk is on
rough ground. Good shoes necessary. 6 hours tour/retour

Trollveggen, Europas høyeste loddrette stup. Fra bunnen av dalen
og opp til toppen av Trollveggen er det 1800 meter. Av dette er
over 1000 meter loddrett, og enkelte steder ”henger”
veggen 50 meter utover.
