The Pines (Canterbury) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Growly Bear: As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Located just off a popular walking trail between The Pines Beach and Woodend.

You can start the trail from either end and it is in the middle of the two places so both starting locations will require the same walking time. Allow 1 - 1 1/2 hours for the round trip, although it will be quicker on a bike.

There is lots of sand on the track so a bike might not be a lot quicker.

An alternative route is via the beach and this makes a pleasant return leg of the trip, especially on a nice day.

The cache is hidden about 150m off the track and you can get good gps coverage within 50m of the cache site.

The cache is a 400ml round container with "GEO" on the lid.

The cache contains logbook, pencil and a few small items. When first placed I included a Travel Bug brought back from a recent trip to Nelson. An extra incentive for the FTF.
