Geocache Description:

This CITO event is being held in association with The Water of Leith Conservation Trust who are very kindly providing some material support.

For those of us who've had the pleasure of geocaching near the Water of Leith and elsewhere in Edinburgh, this is an opportunity for us to 'put something back into the environment by taking something away'. Our allocated stretch of the Water of Leith will be from St Mark's Park to Steadfast Gate, which is the vicinity around Redbraes Weir. Meeting time on Sunday the 8th of May is 10:00am sharp. There will be a short safety briefing and then we'll do two or three hours of cleanup work. The work can be as mucky and wet or as delicate and prissy as you like. Some equipment such as waders, litter grabbers, a barrow or two and some work-gloves will be provided, and a skip will be pre-positioned and will be taken to the landfill site at 13:00 to dispose of any trash we collect. The meeting place is Redbraes Grove, where the skip will be positioned. We'll split into two teams, one on each bank of the river. There are plenty of car parking spaces in Redbraes Grove and the adjacent Redbraes Place. I recommend the nearby Claremont for a lunchtime or post cache meet. The meals are very reasonably priced, eg an all you can eat all-day brunch for a fiver, and the barman said that they have no objection to well behaved children accompanying adults on the premises. 55° 57.915'N 3° 11.397'W
