MV Walking Tour #1: “A Place to Read” Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

ohjoy!: The granddaughter is now in her second year of college. This cache goes missing frequently, whether due to squirrels or campers I don't know.

Time to let someone else put one in this little park.

Geocache Description:

This is one of 5 micro caches taking you on a walking tour around Mount Vernon.

PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB THIS TREE!!! There is too much potential for damage. The cache is at ground level.

This series of caches was placed as a gift for my granddaughter’s 10th birthday in 2005. It was almost a year earlier that she made the request and suggested doing a puzzle that needed to have people put pieces together to find the solution. I hope you enjoy the caches – she will be watching for your logs.

While the final puzzle cache and one of the 6 original micros have been archived, the other 5 micro caches remain to be found.

I suggest a great walk around the town with its many interesting little shops to find this series of caches.

This cache site is the beginning of what I suggest as a 1.1 mile walking tour in the delightful little town of Mount Vernon.

Walking may actually take less time than driving and parking at each site. The suggested route:

1. park near this cache site or at N 48° 25.036 W 122° 20.036 depending on available space
2. go west on Kincaid to Cleveland
3. go south on Cleveland to “A Place to Read.”
4. walk back north on Cleveland to Broadway, go west to the boardwalk and then north to “Skagit Boardwalk.”
5. continue north along boardwalk and under the bridge to “Smokin’ Tulips.”
6. go east to 1st, then south on 1st to Gates. You will find “Giraffe Tree in the bank parking lot behind the columns.
7. go east to 3rd, then south to “I Think I Can” at the train depot.
8. You are now near where you parked your car.

Have a great walk. You may find a few other caches along your route as well.
