Geocache Description:

Simple off-set multicache highlighting the West Coasts unique history.

To complete this cache, you will need to research the history of the township of Lyell, once a thriving gold town, now a ghost town. You then need to use the instructions below to construct the final cache co-ordinates from the information that you have researched.

Your research can be completed using the two main signs at the waypoint that you have been given. Make sure you check both sides of each of the two main signs.

The final co-ordinates are given by;
S 41° AB.BCD, E 172° DE.FBD

Where;
A: Buller River was given its name in 18A6.
B: The 1896 fire destroyed XY buildings. B=Y-X.
C: C2 pupils in this "well taught, well conducted school".
D: New arrivals reputedly dug up a 1D8 ounce nugget.
E: The Unified Alpine mine finally closed in 191E.
F: The plant was powered by water delivered by a 1F00 meter flume.

The final waypoint can be accessed by a nearby walkway. Note that there are steep drop offs from this walkway, with no guard rails. Please supervise children closely. This cache is NOT reccommended at night due to the steep drop offs.

The cache is a LARGE snap lock container. It contains numerous swaps, as well as the usual logbook and pencil.
