Geocache Description:

This beautiful Bearsden Forest Conservation Preserve in Athol, is a boulder scattered 1,000 acre area, which includes 10 miles of well marked trails.

This recreational family spot is ideal for hiking, picnicing, dog walking, cross-country skiing, and showshoeing. Maintained by the Athol Conservation Commission, it is open from dawn to dusk. There is a lookout tower on Sheep Rock, with a nice view of the Millers River and the railroad tracks. Round Top Mountain (hill) 1278ft. has inspiring views of three states and provides a small challenge for young children.

To get to the parking lot(N 42-36.278 W 072-11.529) follow Bearsden Road, off Rt. 2A in Athol. It is a right hairpin turn across from the Athol Hospital.

Follow the Bearsden Road trail, through the Athol Conservation Area. Stay on the main path until you pass through the "Deep Cut" moss covered chasm. Do not start the 20 feet of bushwacking, until you turn towards the Sheep Rock path.

From car to cache is just under a mile. You'll find an ammo box filled with hiker's delights.
