The easy bush walk to the cache site is well worth the effort as this is one of the many unspoilt beaches in the Catlins. I saw no human detritus when I walked over half of the beach. I did see deer prints in several places in the sand close to the sand hills. I collected a couple of paua shells and saw more.
This is not a beach to swim at. There are lots of rips and no life guards.
The GPS coverage on the walk is patchy at best, however when you get out onto the beach there is 5-6 metres accuracy.
The cache is a 1 litre camo painted snaplock container hidden at ground level and not visible from any distance. It contains various trading items.
