Awesome views after an easy walk along a flat wooded trail and a short uphill walk in an open field. Bring a kite or picnic basket.
North Andover has been purchasing land surrounding its reservoir - Lake Cochichewick - over the last decade. The starting point is the Stevens Estate Conference Center with 153 acres of wooded land, open to the public, with wonderful trails along the lake. A recent purchase has been an adjoining section of land called "Half Mile Hill". The entrance to the Conference center is N 42 42.311 W 071 06.926, parking and the trail head is at N 42 42.445 W 071 06.755. After walking a short distance from the parking lot, take the trail on the left. The cache is a 0.5 mile wooded walk to an open hill with fantastic views of the lake. You can avoid the poison ivy by walking around and behind the landmark at the top of the hill.
Update - 4/7/2013
A new trail called the Summit Trail has been added off the existing Half Mile Hill Trail, allowing for a shorter and more direct hike to the cache.
