This ammo box is located along the trail at the Round Lake Logging Dam
This dam was built in 1876 to help build up force to push pine logs down the Flambeau River from Round Lake. There are pamphlets and signs along the trail that can do a much better job of giving the history of the dam and logging than I can. You will get an excellent feel for the history of this area from visiting this cache. The total trail is about a half mile long and isn't challenging to walk. The cache is off the main trail, but it is still very accessible. Notes: There is a $3.00 per vehicle parking fee; please be considerate of the cross country skiing tracks during the winter, and *please* make sure you hide the cache well-it should not be able to be seen by the casual passerby.
