Sejerø Fyr blev tændt 1. gang 2. september 1852 for at
vejlede de søfarende om faren ved Hatter Rev.
Fyret er 15,5 meter højt og står på en bakke med
samme højde. Lyset fra fyret kan i klart vejr ses 20 km derfra.
Oprindeligt var lyskilden 9 olielamper og 9 parabolspejle sat på
et stativ, som roterede en hel omgang på 6 minutter.
Først i 1956 kom der strøm til øen og fyrets lys
blev ombygget til en fast cylinderlinse med en fyrlampe.
Fra 1894 til 1949 var der et skur ved siden af fyret, hvorfra der blev
signaleret til skibene om issituationen i det sydlige Kattegat og
Storebælt.
Kong Christian d. X og dronning Alexandrine besøgte fyret d. 2.
juli 1929.
54 år senere, den 10. juli 1983, besøgte Margrethe d. II
fyret sammen med Prins Henrik og deres 2 sønner kronprins
Frederik og prins Joachim.
Sejerø Lighthouse where lit the first time on 2nd September 1852
to guide the sea-farings about the dangers of Hatter Reef. The
Lighthouse is 15,5 meter high and stands at a hill with the same
height. The light from lighthouse can on a clear night be seen 20 km
away. Originally the light came from 9 oillamps with parabolmirrors set
at a stand, that revolve a whole round every 6 minutes.
Electricity came to the island 1956 and the lighthouse were rebuild to
a fixed cylinderlinse with only one lightbulb.
From 1894 to 1949 signals about the icesituation in Kattegat and
Storebælt where sent to the passing ships.
King Christian the 10th and queen Alexandrine attended the lighthouse
on 2nd of July 1929. 54 years later onthe 10th of July 1983, attended
Queen Margrethe the second the lighthouse together with the Prince
Henrik and their 2 sons Crownprince Frederik and Prince Joachim.
