Close to paved road.There is a small ditch, easy to walk thru next
to the road, less then 100 ft.. Bring something to write with . Log

This was the starting battle line for the "Battle of Carthage". It
took place July 5, 1861. This was one of the first Battles west of
the Mississippi. Governor Claiborne Jackson was in charge of the
Confederates(4000 men) and Col. Franz Sigel was in charge of the US
troops(1000 men) The Confederates were the winners due to their
superior numbers, however they had 200 Casualites and the US
44.
Segel retreated to the area of Sarcoxie. This win allowed the
confederate to join forces and train their troops.
