Geocache Description:

Maya Silver:Secrets

Isabelle writes...

The two fleeing Mayans outpaced us, but we finally found them near some gates. From what I could see of the area behind the gates this appeared to be the entrance to some sort of temple complex. Caught near the gates they fled towards some rocks, but those were thin shelter and our men slew them in an instant.

Once I could get close enough I could see that we had not killed warriors. Of these two, one was an old man with elaborate garb, probably some sort of priest. The other was merely a young boy, most likely his acolyte. It was from the boy that we gathered our last silver breastplate, copied, translated and signed.

The old man yielded up only an old scroll of vellum covered with symbols. Since it was not silver the men cast it aside, but I took another look. These symbols were familiar by now and I knew what they meant.

It was dark with the moon refusing to give us any light. We made a hurried camp and slept like the dead we had left behind us. Come morning the men talked amongst themselves and concluded that there might be more silver back in the village we had first encountered. I feigned exhaustion, Natomi alongside me, and they left down the hill, still hurried by the greed that had driven them up it.

Once out of sight I brought out the scroll and my notes, and with Natomi made sense of what I had. I could not know what we would find, but I was certain I knew where to go...
