The cache is at beautiful Eastern Point. A great area to explore. It is hidden a very short walk from the parking lot in a 2 cup rectangular rubbermaid container camo duct taped and clearly marked as an official gamepiece.
Cape Ann was named after Anne of Denmark, queen consort of King James I of England, who became the mother of King Charles I in the early 1600's. When I was a teenager my friend's family owned a cottage on Eastern Point. They related to me a little-known story that near here is a profile in stone that supposedly bears resemblence to "Mother Anne", and that is how the area got its name. If you have time after finding the cache, walk to the ocean (eastern) side of the lighthouse and wander among the rocks to see if you can find the profile. She looks like an old hag to me! NOTE: At the beginning of the road into Eastern Point there is a sign that says something to the effect that it's Residents Only. TRUST ME--you can ignore the sign and drive in! There are at least three areas open to the public on the road--a museum, an Audubon wildlife sanctuary, and the lighthouse/Dog Bar breakwater. All are open to the public. I have been driving in there for thirty years and have never been questioned. As of 2022, they are now charging a fee to park at the lighthouse.
