The Road to the Isles from Fort William to Glenfinnan and Lochailort through Arisaig and Morar ending at Mallaig is a route steeped in history where Bonnie Prince Charlie found safety in this area of the Scottish Highlands.
The many beaches at Camusdarach offers superb panoramic views of the islands and have been a popular choice for movie location filming for many years most notably with Local Hero, also filmed here or nearby were scenes from Breaking the Waves, Hamish Macbeth, and Monarch of the Glen.
From Fort William take the A830 to Arisaig. Continue for five miles on the new section of the road until just before Morar where there is a large signpost to Camusdarach on the left of the road. Turn off onto the old coast road (B8008) and go for a mile or so back towards Arisaig. At the bottom of a hill there is a car park on the right hand side of the road with a height barrier.
Alternatively, from Arisaig take the old coast road (now the B8008) and continue for five miles until you pass the sign for Camusdarach Camp Site on the left side of the road. Just past this, there is a sign reading car park 100 yards. Pull into the carpark which is on the left hand side of the road at the bottom of the hill.

From the car park follow the signed path to the beach alongside a small stream. Please keep to the path and stay off the adjacent sand dunes to avoid soil erosion and damage to the fragile dune eco-system.
The trail( what trail ) from the beach is not suitable for bikes or buggies.The area off the beach can be wet and rocky underfoot, so please wear suitable footwear.
The cache is in a small sandwich box, and was stocked with the usual suspects when we left it
We have been coming to this area on a regular basis for the past 30 years and never tire of its beauty, so we hope you all enjoy the views and finding the cache.
