A small cache hidden at the trail intersection of Jackson Flats and Butano Fire Road.
After hiking through cool, dense forests I reached Butano Fire Road where the climate changed drastically. Without any shade, temps here reached over 100 degrees the day I hid this cache, a big change from the shady redwoods bellow. The ground changed from soft, spongy dirt, to hard sand and rock. The upside however, is that now you are high enough get some great sattelite reception. Oh and great views too.
The cache is brightly colored and not covered. You'll need to leave the trail to find it.
