Geocache Description:

This is going to be one of the hardest caches in Southern Tas.

I first learnt about this place in a book called 'Craglets'. I ventured out there on a misty day and found a nice spot to sit down for a while whilst looking out into a void. The mist cleared and I was looking at the 18 metre drop straight down and freaked just a little.

There are 2 ways into this area: the first is follow the Old Hobartian track and follow it to the bottom of the Lost World on the northern side of the amphitheatre.
The other way in is more risky and you will need to be good (read unafraid and stupid) at climbing (in the down direction!!).
Start by following the Old Hobartian track. In the vicinity of S42 53.080 E147 13.343, the track deviates around to the right. After passing the first rock outcrop, the track is marked by orange tags in the trees and yellow paint spots on rocks. This track should probably only be used as the exit and only if you are up to climbing.

Have a look at the photo I downloaded. There are many holes created between the rocks and some of the drops are in excess of 5m. I do not recommend taking any children in here.

Once you are near GZ a small amount of horizontal distance can transpose into a large vertical distance. Most of the rocks are slippery when wet so watch your footing. Also, remember to rug up as the temperature difference between the city and GZ can be up to 10 degrees cooler. Take a torch and check out some of the caves while you are there.

Also keep an eye on the weather. When the clouds come down, everything starts to drip water and everything becomes slippery.

When placed the cache contained:
Pens, highlighter, roller stamp/texta, dinosaurs, crocodile and other prehistoric reptiles and the necessary logbook/pen/pencil. Please keep with the Jurassic Park theme if possible otherwise take one of the other items.

Happy caching!
