Det arktiska museet Nanoq i Finland är beläget i Fäboda, ca 7 km utanför Jakobstad. Nanoq smälter in i naturen och följer årstiderna precis som de gamla husen på Nordgrönland, men till skillnad från dessa är museet modernt inrett och utrustat.
Det Arktiska museet Nanoq är en tribut till de sista arktiska naturfolkens kultur. Museet är ett arktiskt kunskapscentrum som besöks av folk från hela världen. Nanoq är det första museet i Europa som förevisar Arktis och Antarktis samt områden kring dem.
I museet finns: Expeditionsutrustningar från kända arktiska forskningsexpeditioner, Arktiska fångstutrustningar från 1600-talet till nutid, En avsevärd samling arktisk litteratur och filmer, Berömd töljstenssamling gjord av inuiter i arktiska Kanada samt annan konst, Ett äkta torvhus från nordgrönland, Ett fångsthus från Spetsbergen, Ett guldvaskarläger och andra exotiska byggnader.
Nanoq är öppen för allmänheten juni-augusti dagligen kl. 12-18.

If you want to experience Arctic and Antarctic environments, then come and visit the Arctic museum of Nanoq in Finland. Situated in Fäboda about 7 km from Jakobstad, Nanoq fits perfectly into the natural surroundings, following the seasonal changes like the old houses in northern Greenland, albeit with a modern interior. This Arctic museum is not only a tribute to the culture of the last indigenous Arctic peoples, but also servers as a centre of information about the Arctic attracting visitors from all over the world. Nanoq is the first museum of its kind in Europe which illustrates life and culture in the Arctic, Antarctic and the surrounding areas.
In the museum you find: Equipment from well-known research expeditionsto the Arctic, Arctic hunting and trapping equipment dating from the 1700 century (to present day), A sixeable art collection of Arctic literature and films, A prestigious art collection in particular soapstone statues made by the Inuit peoples of Canada, A peathouse from Northern Greenland, A hunters cabin from Spitsbergen and a goldminers camp from Lapland.
Nanoq is open to the public from June to August daily 12-18.
