Creatures Of The Night Mystery Cache

This is a Night Cache. This cache is best experienced under the cover of full darkness. Going at dusk will take away from the desired effect of this cache. Caution is to be exercised especially with children. Beware of branches, as they like to poke out eyes, and are tripping hazards. When leaving the main trail be very careful and watch your step. This cache may spook some children. Not sutible for small children.

AT NO TIME SHOULD YOU BE ON THE TRAIL AND NOT BE FOLLOWING THE REFLECTIVE MARKERS. IF YOU ARE WALKING BLINDLY DOWN THE TRAIL YOU ARE GOING THE WRONG WAY.

The evil Mr. Dark-n-Dirty has decided to place a horrible curse on the entire earth. He has removed all daylight from the sky and locked it away in a magic box and hid it in a secret place behind the Sunrise Park Inter-Faith Cemetery. To guard his nasty little secret he enlisted the help of five "Creatures of the Night". They agreed to help but only on the condition that they alone are told where the magic box is hidden. Mr. Dark-n-Dirty agreed to their terms but being a cautious man convinced them that they it would be best if each one of them only possessed a portion of the secret. Fearing that one night one of the Creatures may get curious and open the box, releasing the day back into the world. If each of them had only a portion it would take all five of them together to open the Magic Box. The Creatures of the night agreed so Mr. Dark-n-Dirty gave each of them a secret number.

After this was done Mr. Dark-n-Dirty got worried that one day the creatures may decide to work together and open the Magic Box. So he separated them throughout the forest and placed a curse on them which prevented them from ever seeing or speaking to each other again. He also placed a special lock on the Magic Box. This angered the creatures and they vowed their revenge.

Word of what had happened spread through the forest quickly. All the other woodland creatures wanted to help but did not know how. The fireflies however had the idea that if they light a path to each of the "Creatures of the Night" a Good Samaritan may happen by and solve the mystery.

This is where you come in. Your help is desperately needed to protect the earth from perpetual darkness.  Go to the posted co-ordinates with a flashlight (under 4.5v by law in N.S. Woodland), spare batteries, writing materials, cache sheet, caching partner and your wits.

Follow the fireflies (reflective CIRCLES) into the forest. When you see two fireflies together on the same tree stop beside that tree and stand in the center of the trail. Shine your light on either side of the trail to find the path to each creature. It may be necessary to move around a bit to get just the right angle. Follow the fireflies off the trail until you see a reflective TRIANGLE. This marks the area where you will find a "Creature of the Night". After collecting the NUMBER from the "Creature of the Night" return to the main trail by following the reflective RECTANGLES. Once on the main trail continue deeper into the forest following the fireflies and repeat this procedure until you have found all FIVE "Creatures of the Night".

Now that you have all 5 numbers you are ready to find the Magic Box and lift the curse by releasing the light of day. Using the seed co-ordinates below input the numbers you retrieved from each creature in the order you encountered them.

N 44 34. (1st)(2nd)(3rd)

W 63 43. (4th)(5th)

Enter the new co-ordinates and carefully follow the trail to the new position. Once you have arrived at the new trail head you will have to proceed about 10m into the new trail to see the first firefly that will lead you to the Magic Box. Once you spot the glowing band of light you will have to search the nearby area (within 3m) for the Magic Box.
