Geocache Description:

This cache is located near an abandoned railroad trail in Brookline,NH. This old railroad was once part of the Boston & Maine railroad system. This rail, built in 1893, was part of the Fitchburg railroad that connected Fitchburg,MA with Milford,NH. The main purpose of the railroad was to transport ice from Lake Pontanipo in Brookline to Fitchburg and then on to Charlestown,MA.

This will be the first in a series of caches on the site of the old railroad in Brookline.

Best parking can be found off of Ruonala Rd. on the Brookline/Milford line underneath the power lines. It is about a half mile hike to the cache. The first few hundred feet can be a little dangerous, so watch your footing!

ALTERNATE PARKING FOR SPEEDCACHERS:

There is a trailhead and small parking area right on Rt. 13 just south of Eddy Ave. and just north of Old Milford Rd. / Hood Rd. Path leads straight to rail trail. Less than a half mile to the cache from here.
