Geocache Description:

A small park that offers an American Elm in memory of Edwin Ames, Town of Wareham Tree Warden. Bring a pencil. After your hunt check out the Nails and Gifts

Nearby one will find some interesting history to visit:

-Tremont Nail Company, America’s Oldest Nail Maker.
The original building was constructed by shipwrights in the early 1800's as a cotton mill. It was partially burned by the British in the War of 1812, then rebuilt and purchased by Isaac and Jared Pratt in 1819 to manufacture nails. The mill was partially destroyed by fire again in 1836. Reconstruction was completed in 1848 and the mill stands today as it did then, without any significant changes over the past 150 years. There are 60 nail machines in the mill, many over 125 years old, still cutting nails today the same way they did a century and one-half ago. The main mill is one of five buildings on the site over 100 years old, and still actively involved in the manufacture of cut nails.
-The Company Store has some wonderful gifts and a friendly staff.
-The Fearing Tavern Museum(1690)Open for tours Jul & Aug.
One of Wareham's earliest homes became the Fearing Tavern circa 1747, with additions added in 1765 and 1820. Remained in the Fearing family for 200 years. Sixteen period rooms contain authentic 18th and 19th century furnishings, toys, tools, and many decorative and useful objects.
-The Mill Pond Diner is an American classic.
-Don't miss the herring run that links the Agawam River to Parker Mills Pond.
