Drive-by cache at turnoff to reach Fishlake Highpoint trail
While climbing 8 southern Utah county highpoints in a weekend, I
tried to place a few easy caches at locations that could help other
cachers to consider alternatives to the routes suggested in "High
in Utah". Of the 8 I only used their suggested route twice. This
cache is a large pill bottle with a log and a few small signature
items to reward first finders. Near the cache is a large sign for
the Rust Spring Trailhead routes. Take the Bamberger road and
follow the signs from here to the Fish Lake Highpoint. With a 4x4
Durango I was able to comfortably drive on top of the plateau and
have a flat 4 mile roundtrip walk to the high point. You will pass
several caches on the drive to where I parked, which is at N38
34.471, W111 44.598. I am a cautious off roader. More aggressive
drivers could get within a few tenths of the cache by this route.
The peak is at N38 36.481, W111 44.367. There is no cache at the
peak as of the date this cache was placed.
