Some of us have met Sherri in person and some of us know her
only from her cache logs but that hardly makes a difference in this
peculiar community of geocachers. We were all shocked and saddened
when we heard the
news from her family. Sherri's family is recovering from their
injuries but her husband Alister tells me that it's going to be
awhile before they can try this cache. We'll all look forward to
that. In the meanwhile, try this inspired cache and pause for a
moment when your GPS ticks down to 300 feet. This site was chosen
because it's cache-worthy, inspirational, and proximate to where
pennstategirl lived. We also know for a fact that she was thinking
about placing a cache of her own here. Consider that it was Sherri
that brought you here. The GPS, satellites, geocaching.com, and the
collaboration of geocachers that made this cache happen are just
middlemen. Please leave a record of your thoughts and prayers in
the logbook.
Directions: You may be able to see your objective from 50 miles
away if the sky is clear. Park along Old Braddock Road (unsigned)
at 39° 53.040', -79° 38.660'. Please do not drive beyond
this point. This area closes at sunset. Please obey this and all
other rules posted at the trailhead.
Acknowledgements: There is a very long list of geocachers who
offered their support and guidance for this hide. It seemed like
everyone wanted a piece of this. I thank them for that and for
their encouragement. Cacheoholic provided the container, LJ &
Company donated the contents, Yemon Yime created the graphics for
the cache page, and Quest Master placed the cache. Sherri inspired
it all.
