LA DIGA FANTASMA DELLA MINIERA DI CAPORCIANO - THE GHOST DAM OF THE CAPORCIANO MINE
Il cache è nascosto vicino alla Diga che doveva servire alla Miniera di rame di Caporciano, a Montecatini Val di Cecina, bellissimo paese che con la sua Torre domina la Val di Cecina. La miniera, che nel 19° secolo è stata la più grande miniera di rame d'Europa, è da pochi anni diventata un museo veramente interessante, visitabile e gestito da persone veramente disponibili (info: http://www.comune.montecatini.pi.it/museodelleminiere.php). La miniera, originariamente della Montecatini, ha dato i natali ad uno dei gruppi industriali più grandi d'Italia e cioè la MONTEDISON. Visitandola (parcheggio auto/camper N43°23.447' E011°44.277' proprio davanti all'ingresso) si entra nelle vere gallerie che usavano nell'800 i minatori finendo poi la visita al Pozzo Alfredo con ancora i macchinari che portavano in superfice il materiale escavato. La miniera è gestita da guide ambientali professioniste (http://www.viaggioantico.com/) che con estrema preparazione vi illustreranno la miniera. Assolutamente da non perdere la visita al paese di Montecatini Val di Cecina da cui si hanno delle stupende viste sulla valle sottostante. Il cache è nascosto sotto un mucchietto di pietre che vi preghiamo di rimettere a posto in maniera che non dia nell'occhio ai cercatori di funghi, grazie.
