The hand-pull-ferry from Storøen to Andebakkeøen
in Frederiksberg Garden has been recreated in the fall of 2005
after having been lost in 1830.
The complete installation consists of the
hand-pull-ferry with jetties placed on the part of the garden
called Storøen and on Andebakkeøen.
The hand-pull-ferry is recreated with
inspiration from the original drawing from 1800 which Christian VII
and then Crown prince Frederik approved.
The original ferry was made of oak and pine, but
the boat builder has made the new ferry with modern materials such
as plywood and fiberglass. It is however grinded and painted, so it
looks like the original ferry. And like 200 years ago a ferry man
will ferry people safely across the channel.
The jetties is made of a white-painted wooden
construction, as indicated on Læssøe Langes gouache from 1801.
The hand-pull-ferry is crowned by the monograms
of Christian VII and Frederik VII.
The jetties will primarily stand as an
architectural object in the scenery of Frederiksberg Garden.
