Geocache Description:

This is a mystery cache that is set up to award you with a 10th cache if you decide to take the voyage to all 9 planets in this series. The above coordinates will not take you to the cache, but will take you to the center of this imaginary Solar System. The difficulty level is because of the travel involved in visiting all of the planets and collecting the 9 codes to find this cache.

The focal point of the Voyage Through The Solar System is on the Sun and the nine major planets. The voyage will be educational because it will show you the relationship between the size of the planets as well as the distance between them. The posted coordinates will take you to the Dome on the Pennsylvania State Capital Building which will represent the Sun. Nine caches have been placed Northeast of the State Capital Building which will represent the average distance that the planets' orbit is from the Sun. With the use of your imagination, you will go into space and visit the Sun and all 9 planets.

The Sun is the most prominent feature in our solar system. Compared to the other stars in the universe, the Sun is larger than the average star and is 863,706 miles in diameter. The Sun contains approximately 98% of the total solar system mass. The Sun's outer visible layer is called the photosphere and has a temperature of 11,000°F.
The write ups for your imaginary trip assume that you start your voyage at the above posted coordinates. However the voyage can be completed in any order you wish. To get your imagination started take the time and visit The Pennsylvania State Capital Building. Observe the dome over the Capital which has an outside diameter of 76 feet. Go into the Rotunda and see how big it is. You may want to take the self guided tour of the Capital while you are there.
In the Voyage through The Planets, the Capital Dome becomes the Sun and the focal point of your voyage. While observing the Capital Dome, or in the Rotunda, look at several objects and compare its size to the size of the Rotunda. In your voyage, Mercury would be about 3 inches in diameter. Venus and Earth would be about 8 inches in diameter. Mars would be about 4 1/2 inches. Jupiter, the largest planet would be 7 ½ feet in diameter. Saturn would be 6 feet 3 inches in diameter. Uranus and Neptune would be about 2 ½ feet in diameter. Pluto, the furthest planet from the Sun would be a meager 1 ½ inches in diameter. As you visit each of the planets keep a mental picture on what you observed and the size comparison of the Sun and planets. Now that you are ready to start your voyage, you have to imagine the dome to be a round sphere.

After you visit the Rotunda, your geocachemobile will now become your spaceship. If you start your trip at the Capital Dome, your next stop will be Mercury. Watch your speed because as you travel through this Solar System each 11.2 miles per hour will equal the speed of light. If you travel 67 miles per hour you will be traveling about 6 times the speed of light. Keep in mind this is an imaginary voyage so obey the laws.

To find this cache, you must take the voyage to all 9 of the planets. Near the top of the log sheet for each of the planets will be a 2 digit number. This number will be used in the following calculation to find the coordinates for this cache.

When you log your find place a note in your log on your experience while doing this cache. The final cache container is an ammo container and contains several solar system trade items. I also have some large and small rubber stamps that can be used for letter box caches. I have included a special prize for the first to find.

The final cache container is located close to a heavly used trail and may require some stealth to recover it. Please replace as good or better than you found it.

In order to log this cache, you must complete the Voyage to all Nine Planets. If not you will be deleted from your find. (added 7 PM November 1, 2005)
