This is another of the very popular Ground Zero caches. What makes this one unique is that Ground Zero in North Conway is unexpectedly in the middle of a beautiful white sand beach.
The ABOVE COORDINATES ARE NOT FOR THE CACHE. THEY ARE AT A LOCATION IN THE GENERAL AREA OF THE CACHE.
In order to find the cache you will have to determine the baseline, or ground zero coordinates, that geocaching.com website uses to compute distances to caches in the North Conway area. You must then go to that area which is in the middle of a beach. There is a non-permanent marker at ground zero. The cache, which is in an ammo box, is located approximately 125 feet at a true bearing of 346 degrees from ground zero to the cache.
The most straight forward way to approach this cache is by canoe, kayak or inner tube. A hundred or more people will pass by the cache every warm summer day. There is a good put in on River Road in North Conway. There is another put in almost directly across the river from the cache site and the river can usually be waded in the summer. There are other ways to the cache. None are straight forward and all are more difficult. Some may be easier in the winter. If the snow is not too deep you should be able to find the cache. The views from the cache site are spectacular and worth the trip by themselves.
Another twist to this cache is that there is a secret number in the log book. Be sure you record that number because you will need it for one or more future bonus caches. I may make you wait awhile before they become active.
