Geocache Description:

In this spot, legend has it that King Philip (Metacom) held his stockade (although there is no forensic proof). A major New England war was ignighted when 3 Native Americans were executed by the English. This came at a time when the Indians had already endured their fair share of abuse from the expanding colonists. The result was King Philip's war in which 52 of 90 towns in New England were attacked and burned.
By the way, Metacom requested that he be named King Philip by the English. He can be seen in the North-West corner of the park. At night you can feel the presence of his spirit rustling in the trees. Bring along a picnic basket, as this is one of the areas best kept secrets.
