Geocache Description:

This cache is located near the area of the old Cliff mine north of mohawk michigan.

The cache is a rubbermaid tool box and is located off of US 41 near the junction of Cliff Drive and US 41. You should park on the shoulder of the road as a trail is visible into the history area. There is a sign up in the summer months for the cliff cemetary but it is not there in the late fall and winter months. This is near the trail

The area is a very neat area and you will actually feel as though you have stepped through a time portal to the 1800's. There are multiple reminders of the hard life the people/immigrants who lived in the old abandoned mining town of Cliff and worked the mine.

When you leave the area besure to drive cliff drive on the way down the peninsula for the rest of the history lesson as there are signs and boards with the history of the cliff mine along with the dump for the mining rock (if you are lucky you may find some copper as that is what they mined) and the abandoned Cliff Cemetary's (one is protestant and one is catholic).

Just a reminder this cache is accessible off of US 41 not the cliff drive. The trail is readibly accessible as it is obvious that someone is trying to maintain the area.

Bit of additional info: if you are into history you might want to take some crayons and paper to do rubbings.
