Geocache Description:

A simple micro to mark the southern end of the San Tomas Aquino / Saratoga Creek Trail. Bring a pen.

This is the southern terminus of the San Tomas Aquino / Saratoga Creek trail. Evenutually, you'll be able to take the trail all the way out to the SF Bay trail.

When I was growing up, we used to use this trail as a shortcut traveling from home (near Murdock Park) to Westgate. The area was closed off for over a year as they worked to turn it into a real trail. It finally opened last week, and it's certainly much easier to navigate then it was when I was growing up! You had to traverse a 12" wide path with a fence on one side and a 10' drop into the creek on the other. Then you had to climb through a hole in a fence. Then you had to walk through the snow, uphill both ways... (Ok, that last one isn't true. )

The trail is open until 1 hour after sunset, but you don't need to go onto the trail to get this one.

The coordinates seem just a bit off to me, so if you have better ones, I'd love to see them.
