Second growth woods, bypass beaver ponds, then up the hill. NOTE: A major blowdown in the summer of 2014 has made access to this site quite difficult. Best access now is to park at the height of land on VT Route 155 and follow the VAST snowmobile trail southwest approximately 3/4 mile then bushwhack downhill due east 1/3 mile. Still well worth the trek but will take some good navigating.
Site of Weston's 1930's era Civilian Conservation Corp camp. Look for old barracks foundations, cellar holes and 1933 corner stone. Cache is in a screw top PVC pipe. Current contents include old photo of site, pencil note pad, cigar (w/matches), ticket stup, mini-biner, cork, kids multi-tool.
When hiking in stay wide and, initially, to the east and then to the north of the beaver pond. NOTE: A major blowdown in the summer of 2014 has made access to this site quite difficult. Best access now is to park at the height of land on VT Route 155 and follow the VAST snowmobile trail southwest approximately 3/4 mile then bushwhack downhill due east 1/3 mile.
