*Ring* *Ring* You feel for the snooze button. *Ring* *Ring* It's a few seconds before you realize that no matter how hard you hit the snooze button on your alarm clock, the phone isn't going to stop Ringing.
"Uh, Hello" you scratch out as you answer the phone.
The voice: "We've got a kidnapping. We need you to come in on the double. It's Vladimir Kramnik... he's been kidnapped!"
You roll over to try and catch one more "Z" before you have to climb out of bed. "I'll be there," you say, hanging up the phone.
Rolling into the forensics lab at 3AM isn't exactly your cup of tea - but you're proud of your job - you're a scientist, and all this drudgery and low pay is going to be worth it some day.
