Nia and Fion's Elan Cache Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

hedwig: It does seem this one has gone missing and I've decided it's a good time to archive it. It's had a good run of over 17 years. Many thanks to Sandy who has maintained it for me since I moved away.

Geocache Description:

Easy to get to by road except for a few metres of scrambling.

Container is small plastic box with logbook & pencil. 'Treasures' are a bit limited in rush to hide it before dark.....contains two @-shaped paper clips, Aids Awareness Ribbon and party blower.

I lived just a few hills east of the Elan Valley reservoirs when this cache was placed and had noticed a distinct lack of geocaches not involving steep uphill climbs in these parts (and around mid-Wales generally). For those, (like me!), not so fit, this one's easy with a car except for a short scramble at the end.

The cache hiding place was chosen by helpers Nia and Fion, hence the name. We 'stashed the cache' more or less in the dark, late one wet December afternoon, and were in a bit of a hurry to get back for hot chocolate, so hope we got the co-ordinates ok.

We'd called in at Caban Coch Dam on the way past - the wind was really blowing and the water was cascading over the top - Wild Welsh Winter Weather - marvellous!

I've now moved back to my roots in the Wirral and this cache is looked after for me by Sandy.
